We are recruiting a research assistant in education and public engagement


Cell EXPLORERS (www.cellexplorers.com) is recruiting to fill the Reseach assistant in Education and public engagement post RES-008-21



The successful candidate will integrate the Informal Science Education research team based in Biochemistry at NUI Galway and made up of Dr Muriel Grenon (Principal investigator and Director of Cell EXPLORERS), and Cell EXPLORERS national coordinator Dr Sarah Carroll. The research assistant will be involved in the running and evaluation of the Cell EXPLORERS National expansion project with the national coordinator.


S/he will assist the national coordinator to manage and organise all national partner teams set up, training, the logistics of delivering materials and equipment, and perform data collection. An important part of the project is the measurement of the success of national expansion of the programme and the impact of participation on volunteers of all teams. The research assistant will help to collect and enter data from programme’s evaluation instruments and will support the coordinator with analysing results and in generating reports. The successful candidate will also be integrated into the NUI Galway Cell EXPLORERS team and be involved in the delivery and coordination of its educational outreach activities and its team of volunteers.


Salary: €23,061 - €30,243 per annum (pro-rata for this shorter contract) public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply

Start date: Position is available from 13th of April 2021
